Content

Due to current circumstances, this HazMat training is only available using online meeting tools. The LITE course outlines the rules and regulations in respect of ship recycling, including requirements for ship owners and documentation of hazardous materials for allowing safe ship dismantling activities. It covers the related Guidelines for the Development of the Inventory of Hazardous Materials (IHM). A Certificate of Attendance will be awarded to all those who attend.

Participants who wish to go on to obtain the Approved HazMat Expert certification will need to take part in an individual IHM Job Supervision in addition to the online training.

IHM Job Supervision

The Approved HazMat Expert candidate will carry out a project while supervised remotely from A to Z by the trainer. The VSCP should be submitted by the candidate for pre-approval, and for the on board practice, remote support will be provided. In order to witness the candidates’s practices on board, video recordings while taking different samples will be requested.

Participants who complete the IHM Job supervision successfully, and who pass an online exam, will receive an “Approved HazMat Expert Certificate” provided by DNV GL’s EU Certification and Ship Recycling Unit.

The IHM Job Supervision is organised separately on an individual basis and will be charged in addition to the HazMat LITE course fee based on an hourly rate.

Estimated duration: 4-8 hours.
