Death of Diplomacy

by John Faraclas

Here we are amid two raging wars with despicable repercussions – already, a very messy situation and still in my humble view we are in the beginning despite what has happened over two plus years in the conflict between Ukraine and Russia and Israel with the terrorists of Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis and their Iranian backers.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has travelled numerous times to Israel, Saudi Arabia and Qatar since the October 7 Hamas assault and the ferocious Israeli reaction in its hunt for its opponents.

This is one of the most intense ‘diplomatic’ efforts of recent times. Donald Trump claims he could swiftly bring an end to the region’s crisis if he is elected in the next 48 hours–  to put it mildly, that seems rather a long shot.

Blinken on behalf of the Biden administration has so far failed in his endeavours to bring the war in Gaza to an end, help secure the release of most hostages, and bring humanitarian relief to the suffering  Palestinian people.

His calls for a diplomatic resolution to the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah that fully implements UN Security Council Resolution 1701 and allows civilians on both sides of the Blue Line to return to their homes have been ignored.

Nor have attempts by the Western powers and others to secure victory or some settlement for Ukraine been any more fruitful. Sanctions on Russia, including declared outlawing of the shadow fleet, have had minimal effect.

This is not to mention the other horrendous catastrophe prolonged by the intervention of outside ‘actors’ arming opposing sides in Sudan.

Nor is international co-ordination on addressing climate emergencies much more successful.

AND, Turkiye builds up the tensions from Central Med, Balkans, The Aegean, Black Sea, East Med and the Middle East bulling Greece, Cyprus and Kurds with the diplomats of the UN’s Security Council and himself the Secretary-General of the UN Mr. Guterres fully incompetent…

In the coming weeks and months we shall upload articles verifying the inability of Diplomats to bring Peace as the result of this Third World War, is unimaginable.

Being for many years in Shipping, having a family with centuries being involved in this industry and being fortunate to be a shipbroker, I do know the art of negotiating and achieving results between parties, keeping both sides happy, content and secure; hence I criticize the current Diplomats. How many of them know Business and Shipping/Trading Diplomacy?

As said earlier on during my live interview at Vergina TV, how come the Greek Masters of the Seven Seas make deals all over Planet Ocean, successfully negotiating with all nations and achieving / producing results, and the diplomats of the Greek foreign office cannot? Is there an invisible hand prohibiting this?
