Calling all educators, friends, and maritime professionals!
What is Day of the Seafarer?
International Day of the Seafarer, observed annually on June 25th, is a day recognized by the United Nations to celebrate the invaluable contribution of seafarers to global trade and the world economy. It’s a day to raise awareness about the vital role seafarers play in our everyday lives.
Why write letters to seafarers?
Seafarers spend months away from their families, often facing challenging conditions at sea. A simple letter can bring immense joy, comfort, and a sense of connection to these brave individuals. Writing letters not only fosters empathy but also reinforces the importance of gratitude and reaching out to others in kindness.
How can you participate?
- Craft your letter! Include drawings, messages of hope or inspiration, or even something fun!
- Don’t forget to sign it! Include your first name, no need for last names.
- Place your letter in a sealed envelope.
- Send your letter to us! Address the envelope to NAMEPA’s Education Team:
