AOPA HELLAS successfully hosted the “AOPA HELLAS Fly-in 2025,” an international gathering of general aviation aircraft held on the enchanting island of Santorini.

The event attracted 18 aircraft from six countries (Greece, Israel, Turkiye, Germany, the United Kingdom, and Italy), showcasing the incredible potential of cross-border aviation collaboration. Despite technical challenges arising from the lack of Avgas 100LL fuel at the airport, the gathering maintained its high standards. A diverse range of aircraft participated, from daring single-seat gyrocopters to luxurious turboprop planes like TBM and Meridian with pressurized cabins.

Friday was marked by continuous landings of various aircraft categories—from ultralight and light single-engine planes to light twin-engine planes—that converged at Santorini Airport, creating a unique spectacle on the apron. On Saturday evening, all participants gathered at a local winery ( https://santowines.gr/ ) for an unforgettable night of Greek hospitality. The event featured a traditional dinner with flavors of Greek cuisine and music, in an environment that combined the stunning views of the island with the warm atmosphere of the aviation community.

Participants had the opportunity to exchange experiences, forge new friendships, and capture moments in a truly magical setting. On Sunday, despite adverse weather conditions, all pilots and crews managed to return safely to their destinations, demonstrating the high level of professionalism and expertise within the general aviation community.

AOPA HELLAS expresses its heartfelt thanks to Fraport Greece for providing the airport and waiving landing fees, as well as to the Hellenic Air Force and the airport commander for their invaluable support. This collaboration serves as a rare positive example for the development of aviation tourism in Greece.
