Kiel Week wrapped up today for the 49er and 49erFX fleets with a picture-perfect medal race day

. Over the week, sailors experienced it all:

Sunny light breeze to kick things off

Storms and gusts so strong the 49ers didn’t race one day

But finally — steady winds and clear skies today made for an epic showdown on the water!
49erFX: British Queens!
Freya Black & Saskia Tidey (GBR 24) brought the heat
in the 49erFX.
Started today in 3rd wearing the red bib
Won the medal race in style
Took the overall victory and the Kiel Week title
That’s 2 Grand Slam wins this season (including Palma de Mallorca)! Coincidence? Or just top-tier talent?
One thing’s for sure: they’re Olympic contenders.
49er: From Collision to Celebration
Erwan Fischer & Clément Péquin (FRA 1) had anything but an easy start: A boat crash in race 1 forced them to retire.
Erwan’s first event back from paternity leave.
But the comeback? Legendary. Climbed the leaderboard
Took gold — and dedicated it to baby Lou
They now share the same stat as the FX champs: 2 Grand Slam wins in 2025.
49erFX Podium: Sophie Steinlein & Catherine Bartelheimer
(GER 17)
Georgia & Antonia Lewin-Lafrance
(CAN 71)
49er Podium: Jakob Meggendorfer & Andreas Spranger
(GER 22)
Hernan Umpiérre & Fernando Diz
(URU 14)
Nacra 17 Kicks Off!

After 3 races:
