Regulatory shifts accelerate maritime nuclear deployment

The 2026 NRC Regulatory Information Conference (RIC) brought together regulators, industry, and policy stakeholders at a time of growing focus on advanced nuclear deployment. Across discussions, there was a clear shift toward implementation, with increasing emphasis on licensing, delivery, and the practical steps required to move projects forward.

Within that context, maritime nuclear emerged as a consistent area of interest, particularly in relation to floating power generation and nuclear propulsion. For CORE POWER, the conference followed a series of pre-licensing engagements with NRC Commissioners and technical staff. Together, these developments point to a more defined regulatory pathway for maritime nuclear, signalling a transition from concept toward deployment.
