An Evening of Networking and Honouring HE Matthew Lodge
On July 7th 2026, the British Hellenic Chamber of Commerce (BHCC) hosted its Summer Drinks Reception in the gardens of the British Ambassador’s Residence in Athens.
The evening brought together members of the BHCC Board of Directors, members of the Chamber, representatives of the British Embassy, government officials, institutional partners, business leaders and friends. Beyond being the Chamber’s annual summer gathering, it was a wonderful opportunity to reconnect, exchange views and enjoy the strong spirit of the Greek–British business community.
The event was honoured by the presence of HE Matthew Lodge, His Majesty’s Ambassador to the Hellenic Republic, who extended his warm greetings to the attendees.
A special moment of the evening was dedicated to expressing the Chamber’s appreciation to HE Matthew Lodge as he concludes his tenure as His Majesty’s Ambassador to the Hellenic Republic.
In their welcoming addresses, the BHCC Presidents, Anna Kalliani and Kenny Evangelou spoke about the close partnership the Chamber has enjoyed with the British Embassy in Athens over the past five years, built on trust and shared purpose. They expressed the Chamber’s heartfelt appreciation to HE Matthew Lodge for his leadership, his genuine support of the Chamber’s work, the impeccable cooperation, as well as his invaluable contribution to further strengthening the longstanding relationship between Greece and the United Kingdom.
Greetings in honour of His Majesty’s Ambassador, HE Matthew Lodge, were also delivered by Evita Souri, Commercial Director for Greece at the UK Department for Business and Trade of the British Embassy in Athens.
A key highlight of the event was the presentation of a symbolic gift to HE Matthew Lodge by the BHCC’s Board of Directors as a token of the Chamber’s appreciation. The gift—an authentic icon of Saint George, Patron Saint of England and a figure deeply revered in the Greek Orthodox tradition—symbolises the shared values and enduring ties between Greece and the United Kingdom.
The BHCC extends its warmest wishes to HE Matthew Lodge and his family for health, happiness and every success in the next chapter. We thank him for his friendship, his partnership and the lasting impact he has had on our Chamber and our community. While his tenure in Greece comes to an end, the relationships built over the past five years will remain.
