St Pancras Gets a BinForGreenSeas

The Message 38 Million Visitors Can’t Afford to Miss

We are delighted to announce a BinForGreenSeas has arrived at St Pancras International Station, London.

Funded by City Bridge Foundation, our 25th bin is the first to be installed away from a waterfront.

This busy station sees as many as 38 million people pass through its iconic archways every year. With such a high volume of visitors, plastic waste is often discarded in and around the area.

Pollution in busy urban areas can enter drains, gutters and sewers, eventually reaching rivers and the sea. Having a BinForGreenSeas at St Pancras International is a unique opportunity to highlight the often-overlooked journey that litter takes from our streets to the sea.

Here’s what our Founder, Fazilette Khan and the Mayor had to say:

St Pancras station is steeped in British history. Built by the Midland Railway in 1868, it aimed to connect London with the thriving commercial centres of Birmingham and the North West. Designed by railway engineer William Henry Barlow and architect George Gilbert Scott in a red brick Neo-Gothic style, it was, at the time, the largest enclosed space in the world.

In 2007, St Pancras became the London terminus for High Speed 1 and Eurostar services through the Channel Tunnel.

Today, St Pancras remains one of the UK’s busiest and most recognisable stations, welcoming passengers from across the country and beyond. Its new BinForGreenSeas initiative adds another dimension to the station, encouraging passengers to think about recycling and the impact of plastic pollution on our environment.
