Previously unseen footage of Prince Rainier III and Grace Kelly’s 1956 wedding has been revealed following an extensive restoration project, presented to the public during a special screening and discussion at the Grimaldi Forum. Discovered in 2022 among 15 boxes of film reels stored at the Prince’s Palace, the original footage underwent meticulous restoration by the Palace Archives, Monaco’s Audiovisual Institute and an Italian specialist laboratory, revealing images excluded from the original documentary. The restored 30-minute film offers a fascinating new perspective on Monaco’s historic royal wedding, while the carefully preserved reels are expected to remain protected for at least another 150 years.
