by admin

PrintPeel Ports has been announced as a Diamond Sponsor for the forthcoming Maritime, Logistics and  Energy (MLE) thematic within the International Festival of Business 2014 (IFB) in Liverpool.

More than 250, 000 business visitors are expected to attend the International Festival for Business
2014 – a six-week business jamboree which aims to connect UK businesses into international
markets. The MLE thematic takes place from 9 to 20 June and will see international logistics
experts gather in the city for this unprecedented series of events.

Mark Whitworth, CEO of Peel Ports Group said: “It is entirely appropriate that Liverpool – the
UK’s most centrally located global gateway – should play host to the IFB, and Peel Ports is
delighted to announce our sponsorship of the Maritime, Logistics and Energy Week which
effectively launches the festival.

“The IFB is all about showing off the ‘Best-of British’ to a global audience, and the Liverpool City
Region has certainly demonstrated how a forward-thinking, collegiate and customer focused
approach can drive strong growth and lead the UK’s offer.

“Peel Ports’ £300m investment in Liverpool2, our new deep water container terminal at the port of
Liverpool, is the gateway to a wider £2 billion investment by Peel Group which will create
thousands of jobs and see the renaissance of the strategic corridor encompassing Manchester and
Liverpool – the UK’s biggest economic region outside of London.

“The Maritime, Logistics and Energy programme is an opportunity for us to showcase
complementary growth industries and how we are transforming the way our region and our
customers do business on a global scale.”
The IFB 2014 events calendar is programmed around seven business growth themes aimed at
showcasing the ‘Best of British’ and engaging an international audience. They are: Maritime,
Logistics & Energy; Higher & Further Education & Research; Cities, Enterprise & Urban Business;
Manufacturing, Science & Technology; Knowledge, Professional & Financial Services; Low Carbon
& Renewables; as well as Knowledge, Creative & Digital.

The Maritime, Logistics & Energy thematic is organised jointly by Mersey Maritime and Shipping
Innovation, organiser of last year’s highly successful London International Shipping Week (LISW).
