Planned designated safe anchorages
Indonesian authorities are seeking to tackle the growing trend of pirates
targeting tankers in South Asian waters for hijacking and cargo thefts.
This includes the planned establishment by the Indonesian Marine Police of
designated safe anchorages within some ports, which will be monitored and
patrolled regularly.
These designated areas (with coordinates) are:

Dredging work off Senoko Jetty
Dredging works will be carried out off Senoko Jetty from 16 June to 15
July.
According to the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore No.82 of 2014,
the works will be carried out 24 hours daily – including Sundays & Public
Holidays – within the working area bounded by the following coordinates
(WGS 84 Datum):
1) 01°27.90’N / 103°47.68’E
2) 01°27.93’N / 103°47.67’E
3) 01°28.01’N / 103°47.80’E
4) 01°27.99’N / 103°47.82’E
Dredging work will be carried out by dredger held in position by anchors.
The dredger, with hopper barges in attendance, will have a circular safety
working zone of 50-metre radius centred at the dredger. Dredged materials
will be transported to the designated dumping ground by the hopper barges
assisted by pusher tugs.
During the operation, the dredger will be attended by tug boats. The tug
boats will be used to shift the dredger.
A safety boat will be deployed in the vicinity of the working area to warn
other craft of the project.
Craft involved in the works will exhibit the appropriate local and
international day and night signals.
When in the vicinity of the working areas, mariners are reminded to:
(a) Keep well clear of the safety working zone of the dredgers;
(b) Maintain a proper lookout;
(c) Proceed at a safe speed and navigate with caution;
(d) Maintain a listening watch on VHF Channel 21 (Sembawang Control);
and
(e) Communicate with Sembawang Control on VHF Channel 21 for assistance, if
required.
