Lock chamber to close for maintenance works

Soil investigation works at Tuas View

From 18 September to 17 December, soil investigation works will be carried out at Tuas View.As per the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore Port Marine Notice No.123 of 2014 dated 18 September 2014, the works will be conducted 24 hours daily – including Sundays & Public Holidays – within the working area bounded by the following marine borehole co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum):F1-BH-1) 1° 15.651’N / 103° 37.128’EF1-BH-2) 1° 15.651’N / 103° 37.187’EF1-BH-3) 1° 15.651’N / 103° 37.241’EF1-BH-5) 1° 15.629’N / 103° 37.319’E

Soil investigation work will be carried out by means of borehole drilling using jack-up barges. One jack-up barge will be working on only one borehole at a time.

The jack-up barge, with tug boats in attendance, will have a circular safety working zone of 50 meters radius centered at the barge. Tugboats will be used for shifting the barge from one borehole location to another.

Craft involved in the works will exhibit the appropriate local and international day and night signals.

When in the vicinity of the working areas, mariners are reminded to:

(a) keep well clear and not to enter the working areas;

(b) maintain a proper lookout;

(c) proceed at a safe speed and navigate with caution;

(d) maintain a listening watch on VHF Channel 21 (Jurong Control);

and

(e) communicate with Jurong Control on VHF Channel 22 for assistance, if required.

Construction of additional jetty

The working period has been extended for the construction of an additional jetty at the Pulau Seraya Power Station, Jurong Island. The work will now been carried out fom 7 October 2014 to 6 March 2015.According to the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore Port Marine Notice No.112 of 2014, the works will be conducted 24 hours daily – including Sundays & public holidays – within the working area bounded by the following coordinates:A) 01° 17.180’N / 103° 43.650’EB) 01° 17.258’N / 103° 43.726’EC) 01° 17.016’N / 103° 43.974’ED) 01° 16.938’N / 103° 43.899’E

Construction of the new jetty will entail concrete work, pilings and installation of walkways.

A safety boat will be in attendance throughout the duration of the construction works to warn other craft of the works in the vicinity.

Craft involved in the works will exhibit the appropriate local and international day and night signals.

When in the vicinity of the working area, mariners are reminded to:

(a) keep well clear and not to enter the working area;

(b) maintain a proper lookout;

(c) proceed at a safe speed & navigate with caution;

(d) maintain a listening watch on VHF channel 25;

and

(e) communicate with Pasir Panjang Control on VHF 25 for assistance, if required.
