River closure for dredging operations

Due to dredging operations, the Lower Mississippi River will be closed to navigation from 0600 to 1800 hours local hours tomorrow (Friday, 19 December).
The tentative back-up closure schedule – to be used only if above dates are postponed due to fog, or other unpredictable factors – is between 0600 and 1800 hours local time on Saturday, 20 December.

Pontoon replacement

From 19 December 2014 to 31 January 2015, work will carried out to replace pontoons near Exxonmobil Berth No.4 at Jurong Island.
According to the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore Port Marine Notice No.160 of 2014 dated 17 December 2014, the works will be conducted 24 hours daily – including Sundays & Public Holidays – within the working area bounded by the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum):
1) 01¢ª 16.901’N / 103¢ª 41.727’E
2) 01¢ª 16.920’N / 103¢ª 41.744’E
3) 01¢ª 16.901’N / 103¢ª 41.750’E
4) 01¢ª 16.896’N / 103¢ª 41.744’E
Replacement work will involve the demolition of existing pontoon and installation of new platform. Tug boats will be used to tow the platform into position. The crane barge will be used to hoist and install the platform.
Craft involved in the work will exhibit the appropriate local and international day and night signals.
When in the vicinity of the working area, mariners are reminded to:
a) Keep well clear and not to enter the working area ;
b) Maintain a proper lookout;
c) Proceed at a safe speed and navigate with caution;
d) Maintain a listening watch on VHF Channel 22 (Jurong Control);
and
e) Communicate with Jurong Control on VHF Channel 22 for assistance, if required.
