Due to unprecedented demand for tickets to attend London International Shipping Week (LISW), the event has been moved to accommodate ticket sales. On Thursday 10 September 2015 the official LISW Gala & Conference will now both take place at the Grosvenor House Hotel on London’s Park Lane. The venue can accommodate up to 1, 300 people, meaning that LISW is already set to be at least double the size to the last one in 2013.Jeremy Penn, Chief Executive at The Baltic Exchange and also Chairman of the LISW Steering Group, says: “The change of venue to Grosvenor House shows how highly anticipated London International Shipping Week has become throughout the international shipping industry. We’ve been overwhelmed with support and interest in LISW. I think it’s fair to say that it’s already exceeding all expectations and is set to be an excellent LISW!”

LISW News: Minister outlines vision for “under threat” UK maritime centre

The UK’s Minister of State for Transport, John Hayes, has stated that the UK is under threat as a maritime centre, and has called for government and industry to cooperate in promoting the maritime industry.In a speech he referred to as being “of immense importance, ” the Minister stated that in the UK, “we don’t shout about our maritime industry enough, ” and that the sector has an “unaccountably low public profile.”
