The Sunday Times released their Rich List, profiling the top 1, 000 wealthiest people in the UK.Using VV$ we were able to show that the wealthiest man in the UK, Lee Blavatnik – owner of Warner Records, has assets more than the Taiwan, Bermuda or Hong Kong fleet. At $20.3 billion, if Lee Blavantik owned the equivalent in vessels, he would be ranked as the 11th higest valued ship owning country in the world.

Older bulkers, firming containersValues have remained stable this week in tanker market. One noticeable sale this week was the Ariadni 166, 100 DWT ’09 blt Hyundai Samho HI which sold for USD 56.5 million which has caused an uplift in newer suezmax values.

In the bulker market there has been many reported sales of older tonnage. There has been some movement in the values of older supramaxes with values firming following the sale of the TMS Maria 52, 400 DWT ’01 blt Tsuneishi Zosen for USD 7.5 million.

In the container market the values continue to firm following improving spot rates. Last week the ER Cannes 2, 556 TEU ’05 blt Hyundai HI was reported sold for USD 14 million which has also caused values to firm.
