10 September – Traffic suspended in Bosphorus Strait to rescue vessel

Inchape banner3Inchcape Shipping Services (ISS) reports that traffic was suspended in both directions on the Bosphorus Strait between 0700 and 1300 local time today for rescue operations to re-float a vessel grounded on the northern side.

The Istanbul Maritime Association of Shipowners & Agents (Vapur Donatanları ve Acenteleri Derneği) advised that the vessel grounded at 0500 on 9 September 2015. Following the scheduled rescue operation today the vessel remains grounded but southbound passage in the Strait is confirmed to restart from 1430 local time.

The Bosphorus Strait is a key shipping channel in the region for commodities. ISS Turkey will continue to monitor developments and keep its clients updated.
