Inchcape Shipping Services (ISS) reports that traffic was suspended in both directions on the Bosphorus Strait between 0700 and 1300 local time today for rescue operations to re-float a vessel grounded on the northern side.
The Istanbul Maritime Association of Shipowners & Agents (Vapur Donatanları ve Acenteleri Derneği) advised that the vessel grounded at 0500 on 9 September 2015. Following the scheduled rescue operation today the vessel remains grounded but southbound passage in the Strait is confirmed to restart from 1430 local time.
The Bosphorus Strait is a key shipping channel in the region for commodities. ISS Turkey will continue to monitor developments and keep its clients updated.
