Depths at Old Pirpau & Jawahar Dweep
The Dock Master for Old Pirpau and Jawahar Dweep at Mumbai has advised that, as per the latest sounding charts, the respective depths are as follows:
OLD PIRPAU
– At berth: 5.7 M
– Turning circle: 4.7 M
– Access channel: 4.9 M(S)
– Turning buoy: 4.7M
JAWAHAR DWEEP (JD) 1, 2, 3 & 4
– JD 1: 11.3 M
– JD 2: 11.2 M
– JD 3: 11.4 M
– JD 4: 13.7 M

Tuas View soil investoigation
The working period and borehole testing positions have been revised for soil investigation works off Tuas View.
According to the Maritime and Port Authority’s Port Marint eNotice No.53 of 2013 dated 24 April 2013, the works will be conducted 24 hours daily – including Sundays & Public Holidays – from 25 April to 24 May, at the following marine borehole co-ordinates within West Jurong Anchorage, LNG/LPG/Chemical Gas Carrier anchorage and in their vicinity (WGS 84 Datum):
BH-42-1) 1° 13.752’N / 103° 37.791’E
BH-43-1) 1° 13.752’N / 103° 37.687’E
BH-SS-1) 1° 14.450’N / 103° 38.899’E
BH-SS-2) 1° 14.427’N / 103° 38.917’E
BH-SS-3) 1° 14.467’N / 103° 38.862’E
Soil investigation works will be carried out by means of borehole drilling using jack-up barges. A jack-up barge will be working on only one borehole at any one time.
The jack-up barge, with tug boats in attendance, will have a circular safety working zone of 50 metres radius centred at the barge. Tugboats will be used for shifting the barge from one borehole location to another.
Safety boats will be deployed in the vicinity of the working areas to warn other craft of the project work.
Craft involved in the works will exhibit the appropriate local and international day and night signals.
When in the vicinity of the working areas, mariners are reminded to:
(a) keep well clear and not to enter the working areas;
(b) maintain a proper lookout;
(c) proceed at a safe speed and navigate with caution;
(d) maintain a listening watch on VHF Channel 22 (West Jurong Control);
and
(e) communicate with West Jurong Control on VHF Channel 22 for assistance, if required.

Marine site investigation east of River Trade Terminal
For approximately 5 weeks, marine site investigation works involving drilling of boreholes will be carried out [to the east of the River Trade Terminal] in the area bounded by straight lines joining the following co-ordinates (WGS84 Datum) from (A) to (D) and the adjacent shoreline:
(A) 22 deg. 21.950’N / 113 deg. 56.892’E
(B) 22 deg. 21.437’N / 113 deg. 57.225’E
(C) 22 deg. 21.256’N / 113 deg. 57.150’E
(D) 22 deg. 21.705’N / 113 deg. 56.899’E
The works will be carried out by two flat top barges. One tug and one motor boat will provide assistance.
A working area of approximately 50 metres will be established around each barge.
Yellow marker buoys fitted with yellow flashing lights will be laid to mark the positions of the anchors extending from the barges.
The hours of work will be from 0700 to 1900 hours. No work will be carried out on Sundays and public holidays. Vessels employed for the works will stay in the works area outside the hours of work.
Vessels engaged in the operations will display signals as prescribed in international and local regulations.
Vessels navigating in the vicinity should proceed with caution.

The channel depth has been remediated to 15.1 metres and work continues to remediate the following berths:-

Unscheduled locks lane outage
Beginning Sunday, May 5, 2013, at 0001 hours through Saturday, May 11, 2013, at 2400 hours, dredging operations will be conducted at the sea entrance on the West side of Miraflores Locks between the centerwall and the west prism line.
Due to this, the WEST lane at Miraflores Locks will be closed for shipping during this period.
This dredging work is necessary for the removal of debris, sediment, and other material in this area. The east side of the channel at the sea entrance of Miraflores Locks will also require dredging operations which are tentatively scheduled for the first week in June.
As a result, and in accordance with the rules governing the Transit Reservation System (OP’s Notice to Shipping No. N-7-2013), Condition 2 will be in effect from Sunday, May 5, 2013, through Saturday, May 11, 2013.
Applications for reserved transits while Condition 2 is in effect will be received beginning at 0900 hours on Thursday, May 2, 2013. In addition, Just-In-Time slots available for supers will be reduced during this period to one slot per direction. The JIT slots available for regular vessels transiting without restrictions, as well as the booking slot availablethrough the Auction Process, and the slots available for regular vessels less than 300 feet in LOA, will continue to be offered during this period.
