Training for the ECDISPILOT Platinum and Basic is Available NOW

HAMBURG, 13 May, 2013 – (Marine NewsWire) Safebridge, the Internet-based simulation training specialist, has now released its E-learning courseware for training and certification on the new ECDISPILOT Basic and Platinum models.  Courseware development for Chartpilot and Multipilot models is also well advanced.

“The introduction of training for a further ECDIS manufacturer means that we are now able to offer the industry an even more flexible service”, said Safebridge Managing Director Ulf Steden. “This is a substantial advantage, and particularly to the mixed ECDIS fleet operator with cross-training requirements, at this time of continuing depressed market conditions and financial restraints.  Because the price of a course is the same for all ECDIS models, fleet operators can make a block booking at a discounted price and then allocate the courses by ECDIS model. The actual cost to the user is generally the purchase price, as the course is normally followed online from wherever the officer is located at the time such that travel and accommodation costs are not incurred.”

SAM Electronics was the sixth company to sign with Safebridge and now forms part of a total offering covering Northrop Grumman Sperry Marine, Transas Marine, Raytheon Anschütz and e-Globe. Further course releases will be announced shortly.

“One of the main reasons for choosing Safebridge as an additional training option”, explained Arne Melzer, SAM Electronics’ Vice President Operations, “was that their courses are not affected by availability issues since Internet-based training can support a scalable number of students simultaneously. This overcomes the inherent limitations of conventional, school-based, training programs, where availability is determined by classroom capacity and the availability (for ECDIS type-specific training) of manufacturer approved instructors.”
