DNV once again is at the forefront of research, innovation with the use of Greek young scientists who work exclusively for DNV.

What follows is the salute from DNV’s George Teriakidis*,  for the story of the day!

Dear all,

DNV once again is at the forefront of research, innovation with the use of Greek young scientists who work exclusively for DNV.

Our DNV research and Innovation team, stationed in Piraeus and manned by 5 young Greek scientists has been qualified in the 20 finalist of theΗ ΕΛΛΑΔΑΚΑΙΝΟΤΟΜΕΙ, orgnaised by Eurobank and ΣΕΒ (http://www.kainotomeis.gr/). In a difficult time like this for Greece, it is very important to show that young people can make a difference and organisations, like DNV, support initiatives like this one.

Our team has been qualified in the final 20, because of a tool (software programme) they developed, aimed at optimizing the energy use onboard vessels by simulating in the computer either specific machinery or the complete engine room of the vessel. This is very important for shipping companies, who are trying to find ways to reduce their energy footprint and minimize their euxhaust gases and CO2 emmissions. Secondly it is very important because this tool was developed by out Greek team i.e. it is a product coming from our Greek scientists.

There has been a feature article in KATHIMERINI’s “K” magazine, which you can find below:

I am sure that you understand the major importance of such a distinction of our team. We are very proud of them and look forward to the completion of this competition.

A good day to all !

best regards, for Det Norske Veritas S.A.
