Hamburg/Germany, 25 July 2013 – GL Renewables Certification (GL RC) has issued a Statement of Compliance to the wind turbine developer aerodyn for the A-Design Assessment of its 3MW horizontal axis wind turbine design. A-Design Assessment consists of a complete examination of the design analyses with all required material and component tests. It confirms that the turbine meets the requirements of GL RC’s “Guideline for the Certification of Wind Turbines” which addresses the safety philosophy, quality assurance and engineering integrity of the turbine.
aerodyn’s Super Compact Drive (SCD) 3 MW turbine design will be manufactured by the Chinese company Ming Yang. The turbine’s main features are its light weight, compact structure, high performance and cost efficiency, with its integrated SCD drive chain consisting of an independent rotor bearing, a two-stage planetary gear and an intermediate speed generator. The concept is based on a two rotor blade design with a rotor diameter of 100m.
