Dredging at shipyard

From 30 September to 31 December, dredging works will be carried out at the
Keppel Fels Shipyard off West Jurong Channel.

According to the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore Port Marine
Notice No.127 of 2013 dated 24 September 2013, the works will be conducted
24 hours daily – including Sundays & Public Holidays – within the working
area bounded by the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum):
A) 1° 17.946’N / 103° 41.033’E
B) 1° 17.982’N / 103° 41.245’E
C) 1° 17.928’N / 103° 41.254’E
D) 1° 17.892’N / 103° 41.041’E

Dredging works will be carried out by dredger held in position with
anchors. The dredger, with hopper barges in attendance, will have a
circular safety working zone of 50-metre radius centred at the dredger.
Dredged materials will be transported to the designated dumping ground by
the hopper barges assisted by pusher tugs.

During the operation, the dredger will be attended by tug boat. The tug
boats will be used to shift the dredger.

A safety boat will be deployed in the vicinity of the working area to warn
other craft of the project.

Craft involved in the works will exhibit the appropriate local and
international day and night signals.

When in the vicinity of the working area, mariners are reminded to:
(a) keep well clear and not to enter the working area;
(b) maintain a proper lookout;
(c) proceed at a safe speed and navigate with caution;
(d) maintain a listening watch on VHF Channel 22( Jurong Control);
and
(e) communicate with Jurong Control on VHF Channel 22 for assistance, if
required.

Bulk carrier vessel suffers engine failure

A bulk carrier vessel suffered engine failure at around 16.30 hours local
time today (24 September) in the Bosphorus, around the Yenikoy area.

A salvage tug was employed by Coastal Safety.

There is no interruption to Bosphorus traffic as the vessel is out of
transit scheme.
