Construction of seawater intake culvert
From 20 November and for approximately 8 months, marine works involving
seawall demolition, dredging, backfilling, precast box culvert installation
and seawall reinstatement will be carried out [at Black Point Power
Station] in the area bounded by straight lines joining the following
co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum) from (A) to (D) and the adjacent shoreline:
(A) 22º 24.686’N / 113º 54.370’E
(B) 22º 24.715’N / 113º 54.271’E
(C) 22º 24.797’N / 113º 54.355’E
(D) 22º 24.705’N / 113º 54.391’E
The works will be carried out by a flotilla of vessels including one
derrick barge, one split hopper barge, one crane barge and one grab
dredger. Two tugs and one work boat will provide assistance. The number of
vessels engaged in the works will change from time to time to suit
operational requirements.
A working area of approximately 50 metres will be established around the
dredger and each barge. Yellow marker buoys fitted with yellow flashing
lights will be laid to mark the positions of the anchors extending from the
dredger and barges.
The hours of work will be round-the-clock.
Diving operations will be carried out from time to time during the hours of
work.
Vessels engaged in the operations will display signals as prescribed in
international and local regulations.
Vessels navigating in the vicinity should proceed with caution and keep
clear at slow speed, bearing in mind there are divers working in the area.
