Oil terminal workers on strike
Fluxel Fos and Lavera oil terminals’ morning (06.00-14.00) and afternoon
(1400-2200) shift workers are on strike since 06.00 hours this morning (6
February).
Tankers cargo operations alongside are interrupted and cargo arms
disconnected.
Unions have called for a 24-hour strike.
Updates will be given as and when the decision of employees for 22.00-06.00
shift become known.

Establishment of a Starboard Hand Buoy
A Starboard Hand Lateral Buoy has been established within Kwanda Basin
marking the western limit of the maneuvering area for vessels berthing at
the ENI, ALNG or Commercial Quay.
Buoy KB7 – Green Starboard hand Buoy (in accordance with IALA System A)
Position – Latitude: 006° 07.45’S
– Longitude: 012° 19.07’E
Buoy is displaying a Quick Flashing Green Light.
The existing KB7 Buoy has been re-named KB9, position unchanged.
NOTE: Any vessel, other than in an emergency or at the direction of the
Port Captain that is intending to use the Inner Anchorage waiting area must
anchor to the west of the starboard hand buoys located within Kwanda Basin.
Reference is made to Instruction Notice 02/2014.

Canal Authority demands GUPC to resume works
The Panama Canal Authority has demanded that Grupo Unidos por el Canl
(GUPC), the consortium in charge of the third set of locks, resume work on
the project as required by the contract.
After two weeks of negotiations, which saw production levels drop to 5%,
almost all activity has ceased.
The Canal Administrator, Jorge Quijao, stated that the Panama Canal
Authority continues to try to find a solution, but stressed that the
contractor must resume normal activity, which is especially crucial during
the Panama dry season.
