Venice October 2014: palazzi, beauty and secrets

by admin

A tour of secret Venice and private masterpieces is presented this October by Venetian Aristocrat Marie Ghisi.

Venetian art of living still exists. And it is a rare privilege to be welcomed in mysterious private palaces where the Venetian aristocrats still are the witnesses of centuries of elegance and refinement.  Surrounded by her family, our hostess welcomes you for the visit of the palace and offers an aperitivo “alla veneziana” with the elegance of ancient times. They will tell you the history of the family and of the palace, that was chosen by the Prince and Princess of Wales when they visited Venice.

You can discover the heritage of centuries of knowhow, technical and artistic discoveries.  For centuries, Venice was the worldwide centre producing the most exclusive, precious and refined glass. The glass industry contributed to the wealth and reputation of Venice.  Today it still offers great artistic work amongst quantities of cheap copies. Marie will tell you the difference between the authentic and the rest, while we visit a “fornace” still working with ancient methods.

Your host, a charming Venetian Aristocrat, will show you around the marvelous palace.  During lunch she will tell the story of her ancestors, amongst whom are several Doges.  After the Palazzo, Marie will guides you towards sestiere San Marco for a private visit to the famous opera house, La Fenice.

You will stroll along the “calle” towards one of the last authentic artisan Venetian Mask workshops. You will be shown how the masks are created and produced. The masks for the Stanley Kubrick film “Eyes Wide Shut” were designed and produced here.  They are publishers of the great book “Maschere a Venezia.”

Here is the full program of this four-day tour that contains lots of additional information.
