Korean Register (KR) – an IACS member classification society – announces today that it has been fully authorized by the Ministry of Transport and Communications in the Sultanate of Oman to deliver “statutory services” on behalf of the Oman government.
The Oman authorities have also authorized LR and BV – alongside KR – allowing each society to perform statutory services on the government’s behalf.
Within Oman, KR is now able to conduct relevant surveys, audits and issue certificates to Oman flagged ships for SOLAS, MARPOL, ITC, ILL, ISM Code, ISPS Code, and MLC.
Mr. Jung Young-jun, Executive Vice President and acting Chairman & CEO said: “We are extremely pleased to be given the stamp of approval by the Oman government. We are now authorized by 66 countries to deliver statutory services. Today’s approval is a further demonstration of KR’s growing strength and reach within the international shipping sector.”
The Korean Register is an IACS member classification society established in 1960 with the purpose of promoting safety of life, property and the protection of the marine environment.
