The British Government has once again thrust its full weight behind London International Shipping Week with an official visit to the LISW2015 stand at Posidonia in Greece by the British Ambassador in Athens followed by public shows of support at additional events by the head of the Maritime and Coastguard Agency Sir Alan Massey, and UK Shipping Minister Stephen Hammond MP.
Guests attending Posidonia 2014 enjoyed an informal British drinks reception to herald the countdown to London International Shipping Week (LISW) which is set to take place on the 7th-12th September, 2015. Those attending the LISW Stand announced that it was ‘Pimms O’Clock’ to kick off the countdown with over 70 guests excitedly discussing future plans for the London event.
MCA Chief Executive Sir Alan Massey later told guests attending a glittering reception at the British Embassy in Athens, that the UK Government once again fully supported London International Shipping Week.
It was then up to UK Shipping Minister Stephen Hammond MP to tell a recent Maritime Logistics & Energy conference in Liverpool: “Last year we welcomed the shipping industry from around the world to our inaugural London International Shipping Week. I’m pleased to announce that we will host another Shipping Week in September 2015 which we hope will grow into a truly countrywide event, reflecting the maritime strengths across the UK. I am determined that with you in partnership, we can do even more to make Britain the best place in the world to do maritime business.”
The inaugural London International Shipping Week was held in September 2013 and attracted thousands of maritime professionals to the UK capital where they attended more than 80 maritime events including a high-level Government reception at Lancaster House, a Downing Street summit, well-attended meetings and seminars as well as the official LISW Conference and Gala Dinner.
