Lock chamber repairs complete

The repairs to Brunsbuttel’s Big South Lock Chamber have been completed, and both big lock chambers are in service since 1100 hours local time today (16 January).

Cessation of handling of coal

In order to avoid any corrosion of metal surface and sensitive crane components in the humid and saline atmosphere, which will result in reduction in efficiency and their useful life and also delay the commissioning of Container Terminal, it has been decided to avoid handling of coal at [Kandla’s] Berths No.11 & 12 with immediate effect.

Revised maximum permissible draft

Construction of silt barricade

The working period for the construction of a silt barricade at Tuas Power Station has been extended. The work will now be carried out from 20 January to 30 April.
According to the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore Port Marine Notice No. 01 of 2015, the works will be conducted 24 hours daily – including Sundays & Public Holidays – within the working area bounded by the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum):
1) 01 deg. 16.752’N / 103 deg. 38.420’E
2) 01 deg. 16.751’N / 103 deg. 38.442’E
3) 01 deg. 16.724’N / 103 deg. 38.440’E
4) 01 deg. 16.721’N / 103 deg. 38.473’E
5) 01 deg. 16.729’N / 103 deg. 38.474’E
6) 01 deg. 16.724’N / 103 deg. 38.547’E
7) 01 deg. 16.628’N / 103 deg. 38.539’E
8) 01 deg. 16.639’N / 103 deg. 38.412’E
The construction of the silt barricade will entail piling work using crane barges with vibro hammer and guide frame.
Craft involved in the works will exhibit the appropriate local and international day and night signals.
When in the vicinity of the working area, mariners are reminded to:
a) Keep well clear and not to enter the working area;
b) Maintain a proper lookout;
c) Proceed at a safe speed and navigate with caution;
d) Maintain a listening watch on VHF Channel 22 (Jurong Control);
and
e) Communicate with Jurong Control on VHF Channel 22 for assistance, if required.

Soil investigation work

From 19 January to 19 April, soil investigation work will be carried out at Pulau Subar Darat.
According to the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore Port Marine Notice No.08 of 2015, the works will be conducted 24 hours daily – including Sundays & Public Holidays – at the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum):
1) 01 deg. 12.997’N / 103 deg. 49.863’E
2) 01 deg. 12.980’N / 103 deg. 49.857’E
3) 01 deg. 12.965’N / 103 deg. 49.850’E
Soil investigation work will be carried out by drilling using a jack-up barge. Tug boats will be used to move the jack-up barge. The safety zone is a circular area of 30m radius centred at the borehole.
Craft will exhibit the appropriate local and international day and night signals.
When in the vicinity of the working area, mariners are reminded to:
a) Keep well clear and not to enter the working area;
b) Maintain a proper lookout;
c) Proceed at a safe speed and navigate with caution;
d) Maintain a listening watch on VHF Channel 68 (West Control);
and

Closure for bridge works cancelled

The planned closure to traffic in the Izmit Bay are due to bridge works today and tomorrow (16 & 17 January) has been cancelled.
Originally, the area between the coordinates 029 30 E and 029 32 E was going to be closed to traffic for all vessels both ways (in and out) 08:00 to 12:00 today and from 09:00 to 13:00 tomorrow.
The bridge works operation and related closure will be be carried out some time in the comin weeks.
