Armed attack in outer anchorage

According to local reports, a crew member has died after being shot in an armed attack in the outer anchorage of the Qua Iboe Terminal last night (3 February).
Three other crew members are reported to have been kidnapped for ransom.

Wreck removal

For approximately 6 weeks, removal operation to a wreck will be carried out [in waters west of LCS 1 Buoy] within the area bounded by straight lines joining the following co-ordinates (WGS84 Datum) from (A) to (D):
(A) 22 deg. 09.470’N / 114 deg. 11.720’E
(B) 22 deg. 09.200’N / 114 deg. 11.860’E
(C) 22 deg. 09.070’N / 114 deg. 11.580’E
(D) 22 deg. 09.200’N / 114 deg. 11.500’E
Four yellow marker buoys fitted with yellow flashing lights will be laid to indicate the works area and the existing Isolated Danger Mark in the aforesaid area will be removed.
The works will be carried out from 0700 hours to 1900 hours daily by a heavy lift vessel with the assistance of one dumb steel lighter and three work boats. The number of vessels engaged in the works will change from time to time to suit the operational needs.
Vessels engaged in the works will remain in the works area and display signals as prescribed in international and local regulations. Anchor marker buoys fitted with yellow flashing lights will be laid to mark the position of anchors extending from the vessels.
Vessels navigating in the vicinity should proceed with caution and keep well clear at slow speed, bearing in mind there may be divers working in the works area.

Changes to Bunker excise

The Australian Government has announced that the Fuel Tax has risen from 38.600 cents per litre to 38.900 cpl with effect from 1 February 2015.
The rate payable for Bunker Excise on coastal bunkers consumed is 38.900 cpl, with the Excise Rebate remaining at 100% – due to the removal of the Carbon Tax from 1 July 2014.
Indexation of fuel duty has returned to a biannual CPI Indexation from 1 February 2015 and again from 1 August 2015.

Transit dues unchanged for 2015

The Suez Canal Authority has announced that transit dues for 2015 remain unchanged, at the same levels as in 2014.
However, with effect from 1 May 2015, the discount for LNG carriers’ transit tolls will be 25%, down from 35%.

Suspension of traffic for bridge works

Traffic will be suspended for all vessels between the coordinates 029 30 E and 029 32 E at Izmit Bay from 5 to 9 February, between 08:00 and 16:00 hours local time, due to works on Izmit Bay Suspension Bridge.
Masters of your vessels trading in the area must act in line with VTS instructions and take all related precautions accordingly.
