unnamed (49)Brussels, 16 June 2015 – 53 Partners from the 8 Sectors represented by ERTICO (mobile network operators, public authorities, research, service providers, suppliers, traffic and transport industry, users, vehicle manufacturers) met in Brussels for the annual General Assembly to discuss the achievements of the previous year and the next strategic steps.
These include the 5 ERTICO strategic Programmes presented by CEO Hermann Meyer. Started in 2015, these programmes cover the different areas of intelligent transport systems such as Connected and Automated Driving, eCall, eMobility, Urban mobility, and Freight & logistics. This is part of the new strategy ERTICO has put in place to focus on specific thematic areas identifying the long-term objectives and filling the current gaps for deployment through the different ERTICO Partnership activities. Today, each programme leader presented the first draft of the programmes; in the months to come the programmes will be completed and new ERTICO Partnership activities will be planned accordingly.
“The ERTICO Partnership went from strength to strength through the growth in the number of Partners to the increasing range of activities on offer” – Jean Mesqui, outgoing Chairman of the Supervisory Board, stated. “Partners continued to work together in their quest to further the deployment of ITS, providing innovative solutions to address real needs that exist in our society today, many of which could be seen at the European and World Congresses in 2014 and will be further demonstrated in Bordeaux next October”, he continued. The importance of strengthening the Partnership through new strategic objectives was reiterated by newly elected Chairman Cees De Wijs, CEO of SWARCO. “ERTICO has gone a long way establishing its Partnership as a reference point in the ITS world. I am extremely grateful to all the Partners gathered here today for the trust they have shown in electing me; I look forward to working together and to setting forth our ambitions to the ITS community”.On the same day, the Partnership also elected the new members of the Supervisory Board for the next year. The next biggest appointment for ERTICO Partners will be in Bordeaux next October for the ITS World Congress with a big presence of the Partnership activities in sessions, workshops and demonstrations.

About ERTICO – ITS EuropeERTICO – ITS Europe is a public/private partnership of 115 companies and organisations advocating and actively working on the deployment of Intelligent Transport Systems and Services (ITS) through 6 Programmes and a wide range of activities (events, projects, interest groups). The ERTICO work programme focuses on initiatives to improve road safety, security and network efficiency whilst taking into account measures to reduce environmental impact. Currently the ERTICO partnership is working on 5 programmes:
•    Connected & Automated Driving
•    (Urban) Mobility as a Service
•    ITS for freight and logistics
•    eMobility
•    Emergency Call

Each programme has identified activities according to short, mid and long term goals. In addition, an emphasis is given to 6 different enablers as the ERTICO Partnership acknowledges that the technology development does not lead to implementation alone. Also interoperability, policy, organisational, financing and the international aspect needs to be taken into account.
