Locks closure for maintenance works

The Kiel Canal Authority has announced that due to maintenance works, the Big South Lock Chamber at the Kiel-Holtenau locks will be out of service from 07:30 to 15:30 hours tomorrow (30 June).

Extended port facilities & light dues incentive scheme

The Port Facilities and Light Dues Incentive Scheme is extended to 31 March 2018.
Registration of ocean going vessels (OGVs) under the current incentive scheme will expire on 25 September 2015. To continue to enjoy the 50% reduction in port facilities and light dues up to 31 March 2018, OGVs (thourhg their owners, charterers, managers and agents) are required to make a new one-off registration with the Environmental Protection Department (EPD) under the Extended Incentive Scheme.
After successful registration under the Extended Incentive Scheme, and with effect from 1 July 2015, the masters or his respresentatives of the PGVs are required to send a notification with the required information to EPD within 48 hours after berthing to confirm that the vessek has taken measures to reduce Sulphur dioxide emission while berthing.
OGVs not considered under the current incentive scheme should also follow the procedures mentioned above if they wish to join the Extended Incentive Scheme.

New pier now operational

Phase 3 (a new pier) is now operational at Tutunciftlik TUPRAS terminal. Details are as follows:
– DWT: 5000 to 100000
– Draft: from 7 M to max 18 M
– Total pier LOA: 890 M (in total both sides)

Bosphorus to close as bridge works continue

Due to continuing works on the 3. bridge (Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge), the Bosphorus will be closed to traffic from 05:00 to 12:00 hours local time tomorrow (Tuesday, 30 June).
