Proceeds to go towards Greek maritime scholarships
Sailors’ Society will hold its first ever fundraising event in Greece on Thursday 15 October in Athenaeum InterContinental Athens’ stunning ballroom. The night will see the industry coming together in support of the Society’s first ever Greek maritime scholarship programme for aspiring seafarers. This is particularly pertinent given the International Maritime Organizations’ current theme of ‘maritime education and training’.
The evening’s festivities will begin with a drinks reception in the ballroom foyer at 19.00, followed by dinner and live music. This unique event and sophisticated setting is an ideal opportunity to enhance business relations. There will also be live and silent auctions, which will help raise additional funds for the maritime scholarships programme.
Sailors’ Society offers maritime scholarships in collaboration with several prestigious training colleges around the world including in Singapore, Philippines and the UK. This will be the first time the charity will provide maritime students with scholarships in Greece.
The evening’s headline sponsors are Acropolis Chartering with additional support from Aspida, JLJ Maritime S.A Athens and Chios Navigation (Hellas) Ltd.
Stavros Liaros, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Acropolis Chartering & Shipping Inc. said:
“Sailors’ Society is a great organisation with a proven record of their work helping sailors globally and Greece is a country with the biggest fleet worldwide. So it is a great pleasure for Acropolis to sponsor this important event, and to help raise awareness and funds to give back as much possible to the sailors that are key to the success of our shipping industry.”
The following companies have already booked to attend the charity fundraiser: Acropolis Chartering, American Bureau of Shipping, A M Nomikos, Anangel Shipping Services, Arrow Hellas, Aspida, Bery Martime Inc, Chios Navigation(Hellas) Ltd, Epirotiki Lines S.A, GAC World, GasLog Ltd, Holman Fenwick Willan LLP, Laskaridis Shipping Co., Marine Traffic, Propeller Club, and Watson Farley & Williams.
