This “delicate” subject was the theme of the London Shipping Law Centre’s event earlier tonight at a full house at Hill Dickinson’s auditorium.

Chaired by Simon Gault, LMAA Arbitrator the panel of speakers included Clare Ambrose from 20 Essex Street, Vasanti Selvaratnam QC at Stone Chambers and from the hosts, Robert Gay.

Recast Brussels I Regulation, an introduction to Practical Impact (Clare Ambrose); Anti-suit injunctions and the Gazprom case (Vasanti Selvaratnma QC) and How to defend a London Arbitration Agreement (Robert Gay) where the matters discussed. At the end the chairman gave a short presentation on “Do the LMAA terms 2012 give tribunals enough powers to enforce their jurisdiction?”

Quite a few interesting questions during Q&A time and same continued through the nice network drinks and dips reception which followed. Good to see young enthoussiasts too from the legal profession. We will revert with a full account soon.

The next event of the Centre is about “Terminating shipbuilding contracts: Can I? Should I? And what will happen if I do?” scheduled for the 3rd of December at Stephenson Harwood LLP offices. Book early to avoid any disappointment.
