Very few people, particularly women have ever sealed and make their present quietly felt in the Maritime Industry as Anne Steffensen did last year, whilst opening the proceedings of WISTA-Denmark conference/meeting, in calling the Shipping Industry into battle to meet regulatory challenges!
Regulation, regulation, regulation leading to discipline is what every industry needs, shipping being the number one due to the colossal financial participation in the Shipping Venture, anticipating also the Human Factor being the number one challenge, needless to say that shipping has the highest percentage in moving goods on Planet Ocean above the 90 centum, a figure no other sector of the logistics chain, part of intermodalism, does!
Anne Steffensen, as a former diplomat knows best of the role discipline and regulation play and she’s there, at the helm of the Danish Shipowners’ Association – the first ever woman, to materialise same, confronting the challenges ahead in the most appropriate way!
We had the chance AND unexpected luck to meet her at DSA headquarters at Amaliegade, a street synonymous to shipping, during our visit to Copenhagen, thanks to Irene Rosberg, the programme director of Copenhagen Business School’s Blue MBA, during a dinner for the executive students and a brief presentation, an excellent slides delivery, on the Danish Maritime Cluster and the contribution of shipping to the Danish Economy in all aspects.
After dinner, Anne Steffensen, a staunch member of WISTA-Denmark and, as witnessed, of Maritime Academia Excellence, also accepted to be interviewed live for www.allaboutshipping.co.uk , a great honour for us!
