SINGAPORE, 7 January 2016 – Singapore Post Limited (SingPost) will issue a new Zodiac Monkey stamp set on Friday, 8 January 2016, to usher in the Lunar New Year. The stamp set comprises of three stamps, each with a colourful illustration of the creative, witty and agile Monkey, which is the ninth animal sign in the Chinese zodiac cycle.

The Monkey stamp set is the ninth of 12 sets of stamps in the second zodiac stamp series issued by SingPost which began in 2008. The 12 animal signs in the Chinese calendar are the rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, goat, monkey, rooster, dog and pig.

According to Chinese astrology and belief, those born in the year of the Monkey are often said to possess character traits such as curiosity, mischievousness and cleverness. They are fun and loving persons who are always cheerful and energetic. As 2016 is the year of the Fire Monkey, they are energetic, determined and expressive. Their creativity combined with will power and initiative make them innovative and full of strength and determination.
