Capt. Antonio M. Padrón y Santiago, “IMO Maritime Ambassador” and Maritime Authority of Tenerife, aboard the ship BENCOMO EXPRESS, carrying out the practical examination to three Captains of FRED OLSEN EXPRESS in order to obtain their “pilotage exemption”
According to current legislation, to obtain the pilotage exemption, the Captains of High Speed Ships (HSC) must pass a written examination and perform a series of maneuvers in the presence of the Maritime Authority.
In addition to the three Captains examined on board, were present Capt. Jesus Pineda, Pilot of the Port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Ms. Susana Garcia, Maritime Safety Inspector of the Maritime Authority of Tenerife and Capt. Eduardo Rodriguez, Branch Manager of FRED OLSEN EXPRESS at the Port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
