Clark Buffam, VP Offshore at Inchcape Shipping Services, the world’s leading maritime and logistics service provider, has been selected as a speaker at the 2016 International Offshore Wind Partnering Forum (IPF), in Newport, Rhode Island, this October.
The IPF aims to deliver the best offshore wind technical content in the United States, facilitate partnerships that will grow the industry and revenue, and build capacity within the country’s offshore wind supply chain.
The Business Network for Offshore Wind has confirmed that Clark Buffam will speak on Jones Act Considerations for foreign vessel charterers/operators: A case study from Block Island. The Business Network is a nonprofit organisation dedicated to establishing an offshore wind supply chain in the US, bringing together top developers, global experts and member businesses.
With the offshore wind industry advancing, one of its most significant challenges in the US is the lack of a suitable Jones Act-compliant heavy lift vessel for use during turbine installation.
The Business Network workshop will cover how to develop the offshore wind market and still be compliant with the Jones Act. At ISS, Clark Buffam leads a cross functional team which focuses on the development and delivery of logistics support for its offshore client base across North America. He is third generation maritime with 11 years’ experience in the sector and is also a Licensed US Customs Broker.
All presentations were competitively selected by the 2016 International Offshore Wind Partnering Forum Advisory Committee, which is comprised of leading U.S. and international experts.
Clark Buffam will participate in the Working with & under the Jones Act session, along with Charlie Papavizas (Winston & Strawn), and Adam Jost (Thrustmaster of Texas).
The 2016 IPF from 2-5 October will also feature Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI), U.S. BOEM Director Abigail Hopper, and speakers from a wide range of corporations including Dong Energy, Siemens, GE, SABIK, Aeolus Energy, APEX LLC, utilities, grid operators, think tanks and global experts.
