Soil investigation in East Jurong Channel
Friday, July 22, 2016, Singapore
From 25 July to 30 October, soil investigation work will be carried out in the East Jurong Channel off Jurong Port and the SRC Terminal.According to the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore Port Marine Notice No.78 of 2016 dated 21 July 2016, the works will be conducted 24 hours daily – including Sundays & Public Holidays – at the following borehole co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum):
BH1 01 deg. 17.965’N / 103 deg. 42.744’E
BH2 01 deg. 17.840’N / 103 deg. 42.743’E
BH3 01 deg. 17.863’N / 103 deg. 42.841’E
BH4 01 deg. 17.871’N / 103 deg. 42.912’E
BH5 01 deg. 17.786’N / 103 deg. 42.742’E
BH6 01 deg. 17.649’N / 103 deg. 42.741’E

Soil investigation work will be carried out by drilling and sampling using a jack-up barge. Tug boats will be used to move the jack-up barge. The safety zone is a circular area of 30m radius centred at the borehole. A safety boat will be deployed in the vicinity to warn other craft about the work.

Craft involved in the works will exhibit the appropriate local and international day and night signals.

When in the vicinity of the working area, mariners are reminded to:
a) Keep clear of the working jack-up barge;
b) Maintain a proper lookout;
c) Proceed at slow speed and navigate with caution;
d) Maintain a listening watch on VHF Channel 25 (Pasir Panjang Control);
and
e) Communicate with Pasir Panjang Control on VHF Channel 25 for assistance, if required.

Dredging operations

The U.S. Coast Guard, Sector Delaware Bay has issued Marine Safety Information Bulletins (MSIBs) about annual dredging operations underway at Wilmington Harbor on the Christina River, as well as dredging due to start in the Tinicum Island Range, Eddystone Range, Chester Range, and Marcus Hook Range from 1 August.According to MSIB 18-16, the dredge “Essex” along with support equipment, including tender boats “Robbie R, Hilton Head, American Eagle and Pusher 11, ” commenced dredging operations at Wilmington Harbor on the Christina River, in Delaware on 16 July. Operations will continue until 30 September.

MSIB 19-16 advises that Great Lakes Dredging will conduct dredging operations within the navigational channel of the Delaware River, from the eastern point of Tinicum Island Range, south, to the southernmost point of Marcus Hook Range, from 1 August 2016 through to 15 March 2017.  The operation is part of the Army Corps of Engineers Delaware Main Channel Deepening Project in which the main navigational channel will be dredged to a controlled depth of 45 feet.
