Boats ImageStream Marine Training has pledged to donate £1 of every Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW) training course booking it receives to international maritime welfare charity, Sailors’ Society.

After launching in January 2014 with its first STCW-approved course in personal survival techniques, Stream Marine Training now processes 700 course bookings on average each month. The training organisation works across the maritime shipping industry, servicing various sectors with a range of STCW courses and offering a unique and flexible service. It is anticipated that donations will exceed £5,000 in its first year.

Martin White, chief executive officer of Stream Marine Training, said: “It was a very natural decision to give something back and there was a feeling of pride for the Stream Marine training team to support Sailors’ Society. With many of our own team being ex-seafarers we appreciate the work the charity undertakes worldwide to improve the lives of the people at the heart of our industry.”

Claire Heath, corporate partnerships manager for the charity, said: “Sailors’ Society is delighted to be working with Stream Marine Training in this way. We are always looking for new and innovative ways of partnering with companies to support our work and this is the first initiative of its kind for us. We hope that this will bring commercial benefits for Stream Marine Training, while making a vital contribution to the much-needed help we give to merchant seafarers around the world.”
