31 August 2016 – Teekay, one of the world’s largest marine energy transportation, storage and production companies, has signed a new $4m VSAT upgrade and contract extension with leading global satellite communications provider NSSLGlobal. The new contract enhancement will not only double the bandwidth speeds for both the onboard crew and operational network, but will also provide additional technical managed services to allow Teekay to be able to quickly and confidently roll out new fleet-wide applications. The upgrade will be rolled out in the next few months across Teekay’s fleet of conventional tankers, and LNG Carriers totalling 125 vessels.
From the outset of its long-standing relationship with Teekay, NSSLGlobal has serviced Teekay vessels on a world-wide basis. Over the last few years NSSLGlobal has been growing its sales and service offices in order to be able to support customers such as Teekay in Maritime Hubs globally.
Priya Patel, APAC Regional Sales Director, NSSLGlobal said: “This contract upgrade is in keeping with NSSLGlobal’s broad policy of fostering long-term, partnering relationships with its customers through high quality service provision and joint developments. We have been working in the maritime industry for over 40 years and in the current challenging market environment that the global shipping market is facing our customers, including Teekay, can be confident that they can continue to depend on our support for many years to come.”
Deborah Sloan, Contracts Specialist, Teekay said: “NSSLGlobal is a longstanding communications partner to Teekay. We have a great relationship and we’ve always been extremely satisfied with the service and support that we’ve received. With our contract coming up for renewal both NSSLGlobal and Teekay have worked hard to provide our vessels even greater flexibility, stability, and availability of communication services.”
