Safety zone established in the vicinity of Penns Landing on the Delaware River

The United States Coast Guard will be establishing a safety zone for a fireworks display in the vicinity of Penns Landing on the Delaware River in Philadelphia. The safety zone will be established on 18 September 2016 from 2030 to 2200 hours.The zone spans from the Pennsylvania Shore to the New Jersey Shore and is bounded in the South by a line from position 39-56.31N, 075-08.28W to 39-56.29N, 075-07.56W, and bounded to the North by the Ben Franklin Bridge.

Mariners will not be allowed to transit during the times when the fireworks are being discharged. The safety vessel on scene can be contacted on VHF channel 16.

Tariff Update for Westernport

Svitzer has advised of a reduction of the Volume Based Surcharge (VBS) from the previous 42% downwards to 18%.This decrease in VBS will take effect from 1st September 2016. Any invoices already issued for this period will be credited and reissued.

Tariff updates for Fisherman Islands Terminal at Brisbane

Australian Amalgamated Terminals (AAT) has advised of new tariffs to come into effect from 23 September 2016, for Fisherman Islands Terminal at Brisbane.A 5% increase to the charges will be implemented.

Linesman at ports in Tasmania

Information regarding future arrangements for Linesman at ports in Tasmania has been received, as below:

  • With effect from 1 October 2016, Tasports will no longer order linesmen in each port.
  • Tamar Mooring Co. (TMC) will retain the function in Bell Bay. Agents to book directly with TMC.
  • QUBE Tasmania will take over linesmen duties in other ports as follow:
    • Hobart – 1 October 2016
    • Devonport – 1 November 2016
    • Burnie – 1 December 2016
  • Agents will have to book direct with QUBE as from these dates in respective ports.
