Changes to requirements to apply for Bonded Freight Forwarder Carrier Code |

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) has revised the requirements clients must meet to apply for a bonded freight forwarder carrier code.Previously freight forwarders were required to be physically located in Canada to be eligible to apply for a bonded freight forwarder carrier code. This requirement has been amended to allow freight forwarders who are physically located outside of Canada to apply for a bonded freight forwarder carrier code.The amended Reporting of Imported Goods Regulations which were implemented on November 7, 2016, as per Customs Notice 16-28 – Updated- Mandatory Electronic House Bills, requires that freight forwarders transmit electronic house bills for consolidated (including back to back) shipments.For additional information regarding how to apply for a bonded freight forwarder code, visit the Commercial Carrier and Freight Forwarder Identification and Eligibility page on the CBSA website.

Port ops continuing despite bad weather |

Despite rough seas and strong NNW winds (32km) being experienced at Ras Tanura, no restrictions have been imposed port side on berthing or loading operations so far.Due to the bad weather and safety measures, however, things may be a little slower than usual.Vessels are loading with special permission from the Port Authority. Due to strong winds (28-30 knots) and adverse weather at Al Jubail Port, all berthing/unberthing operations have been suspended by the Port Authority since midday yesterday (15 December).UPDATE: Berthing/unberthing resumed inside the break water berth at 1130 hours today (16 December) but Berth No.61 OSTT Berth (open sea tanker terminal berth) remains closed due to strong wind and adverse weather.For information about operations at Al Jubail, contact GAC Saudi Arabia at jubail@gac.com |

The Kiel Canal Authority has announced the following closures of lock chambers for at Kiel-Holtenau next week, for maintenance works:Monday 19 December – Big New South lock closed from 08:00-12:00 hrs.Tuesday 20December – Big New North lock closed from 08:00-13:00 hrs.Wednesday 21December – Big New South lock closed from 08:00-13:00 hrs. During this period, only one big lock is in operation at Kiel-Holtenau.
