John Faraclas
Another tsunami approaches unless this time we are all lucky as the BDI fells further; the Geopolitcs don’t help either. John Faraclas daily briefing:
The BDI lost another 21 points today and now stands at 714, very close to the 700 point barrier, below which everything is possible.
The Capers had another triple-point loss, 108 and now stand just above the 800 point threshold at 803; CAUTION is wishful thinking. What’s next then?
The Panamaxes, thanks to Posidon gained nine points, the first plus for any size – it was expected though as you can see our yesterday prediction given the stagnation since last Friday… At 931 the BPI has some breathing space…
Minor losses, just two points for the Supras and Handies with the BSI and BHSI down two points each and now reading 663 and 375 respectively…
The entire Dry Market is in disarray. Let’s hope the capable ones will go ahead. Indeed a very difficult period for Princes…
The Wets too on a controlled fall; the last published BDTI (Dirties) and BCTI (Cleans) lost two and three points respectively now standing at 856 and 582 points. It’s fine to see new tonnage in the water, but…. Scrap, scarp, scrap those NOT needed – you know what I mean…
The WTI stands at US$ 52,08 – what a nice fall; that’s good for the poor and helps the affluent too… again, following previous comments (on a daily basis) you understand the meaning of this fall and our reaction…
Despite all this happenings, this is the best ever market to acquire ships and renew your fleet; time to squeeze the shipyards and gain as much as possible with very low prices! This is ofcourse the market for the very very very few, but simultaneously a reality.
The Geopolitics have been more or less the same, towards to a worsening atmosphere and it remains to be seen what else we are going to witness.
The most important issue remains the MIGRANTS and indeed the worsening financial situation all over Planet Ocean. Nobody likes to read it, but we live in a recession with whatever this entails. Don’t be influenced by the stock markets. The real picture is much different. Watch out; be on guard particularly for any attack by terrorists of any kind. We need to see more security in the streets of all Cities, Towns and Village all over Planet ocean; we need ultra-security in the Ports and Terminals – airports included. Shopping must be safeguarded and the streets and Malls ultra-protected.

Prof. Anthony Price delivering his speech
On another note, a great philosophical evening event took place earlier on tonight at the Friends Room of London’s Hellenic Centre; Professor Anthony Price from Birkbeck College delivered the much awaited special speech about “Aristotle on Rationality in Action”. Will revert with Anna Menis’ full account on the event at a later stage. Meantime, remind you that Aristotle can rescue us from the trammels of a dualism of mind and body. Watch this space!
Have a nice evening.
