Capt. Antonio M. Padrón, “IMO Maritime Ambassador”, participated in the Inspectors’ Fisheries Workshop, organized by the International Transport Workers’ Federation (ITF) in Vigo
The Workshop, which was attended by a total of 20 ITF Inspectors from different countries, focused on occupational and safety issues affecting to the world fishing fleet.
Capt. Antonio M. Padrón, spoke on the progresses of IMO in relation to the fishing sector as well as the basic instruments adopted by the Organization in this area: the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Fishing Vessel Personnel (STCW-F) And the Torremolinos International Convention for the Safety of Fishing Vessels.

In addition, the IMO Maritime Ambassador presented the particularities of the IMO Maritime Ambassadors Program and the progress reached in the “Boarding Program for Maritime Cadets”, whose database includes both university students and students from polytechnic institutes.
In the Workshop, masterfully conducted and organized by Ms. Luz Baz, ITF Inspector for the NW of Spain, participated a significant number of Authorities and representatives of agencies and companies in the fishing sector.
