The World Bank Group estimates that by 2030, three billion people of the world’s population will need new housing units. Cities on the continent are expected to become home to over 40,000 new residents every day. Given this high rate of urbanisation, African cities need to ensure there is increased access to affordable, good quality housing. During this event, leading developers will share their experience and discuss how the governments and the real estate sector can meet this challenge.

UK Heads of Mission 

Business Council for Africa is very pleased to be welcoming UK Ambassadors and High Commissioners from across the continent, following the postponement of the Foreign & Commonwealth Office’s leadership week with the announcement of the UK election in June. We will be joined by the UK’s most senior diplomats based in Angola, Cameroon, Liberia, Mauritius, Republic of Guinea, South Africa and Zimbabwe.

Nigeria: Briefing with British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mr Paul Arkwright

The Business Council for Africa is delighted to be hosting the British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mr Paul Arkwright for an evening of discussion and debate on Nigeria. Paul will be addressing the economic, political and commercial situation in the country before a Q&A session and networking.

Paul joined the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) in 1986. Before being appointed High Commissioner to Nigeria he served as Director of Multilateral Policy, prior to this he served as British Ambassador to the Netherlands. His other roles have included Head of Counter-Proliferation and Political Counsellor at the UK Delegation to NATO.

The Private Infrastructure Development Group opened up access to life-changing infrastructure designed to boost economies and combat poverty for 31 million people, last year.
