An exceptional event “How Does Arbitration Support London?” took place earlier on tonight at the DLA Piper premises in the City of London. The event was organised by the London Shipping Law Centre (LSLC) in conjunction with London International Shipping Week, LISW17. Anna Kaparaki was there and reports:
The chairman of the event was the Hon Sir Bernard Eder. Participating were five speakers and panellists who are experts in arbitration matters. They presented current issues associated with arbitration, such as the new LMAA Terms 2017, changes in enforcement and the law on injunctions. Christopher Moss analysed key provisions of the LMAA Terms 2017, Juliet Blanch looked at the role of diversity in shipping arbitration, Clare Ambrose elaborated how injunctions can support London arbitration, Kieron Moore from the UK Defence Club analysed cost efficiency and project managing disputes, and Linos Choo, a partner from DLA Piper, looked ahead to forthcoming decisions in arbitration law.
As was characteristically pointed out by Sir Bernard, arbitration supports London by providing a most effective service for dispute resolution. Many professionals from various jurisdictions attended the event.
A lively reception rounded off the evening, affording the attendees the opportunity to discuss, exchange opinions in arbitration matters and to network.
