Thanks to the president of the Fraternity of the Athenian Hydriots John Sahinis and his timely invitation we managed to attend a unique charitable as well as noble humane pre-Easter event which took place at the Athens Club in central Athens.
Mr. Sahinis in his capacity also as Secretary-General of the Lifeline Hellas, the well-known and acclaimed internationally charity, managed to attract many friends from all paths of life and in particular from the very powerful shipping fraternity the only thriving international greek success business-wise. ! A full house in the presence of the well- known philanthropists, the Royal Highness Prince Alexander and Princess Katherine of Serbia, gathered to honour Dr. Douglas Jackson, president of Project C.U.R.E Foundation USA for his unsolicited contribution particularly on operating young children! The purpose of the dinner was to support the state hospitals of Greece which are in need of any and every single penny for medical equipment!
Interesting, short and to the point messages from Lifeline Hellas Dr. Zisis Boukouvalas and his wife as well as from the Prince and Princess of Serbia.
Very touching words from the down to earth Dr. Jackson , a very talkative person too and wish him strength in this very demanding issue, as well as from Afksendiyos Kalangos, another cardiac vascular surgeon supporting the good causes. Warm words from Despina Portokali too!
Good to see Stella Mantzaris from the marine Insurance sector contributing and doing her utmost best for this noble cause as well as many other friends from shipping lead by Irene S Daifas – the ever present sea-maiden with her unsolicited work for charitable purposes as well as for the environment and maritime education with an annual scholarship in memory of her father Stavros Daifas.
Half way through the event we witnessed an excellent performance with hymns by the chorus of St. George Kariki Church in Athens!
Many organisations were present and good to see many supporting and sponsoring companies! We also noted the presence of the eve present Maria Michalopoulou from the municipality of Paleon Faliron responsible for tourism, Chryssa Voulgaridou, Nasia Papamanolis, Maria Sakellarides and many others…
Remind you the HRH Crown Princess Katherine launched Lifeline in London back in 1993, then in Athens, Chicago and Toronto which are in cooperation with the Princess’ Foundation in Belgrade .
Excellent organisation skills by Nadja Zacharakis and her team!
We will revert with a full write-up. Watch this space!
