The BDI (Baltic Dry Index) lost 32 points earlier on today – dropped below the 1,700 points threshold and proves how volatility is the name of the game… Geopolitics are turning sour in all fronts and Greece lives yet another tragedy thanks to the inability of consecutive post 1974 governments; …”Democracy” you see… John Faraclas’ daily and weekly recaps:
On a weekly basis the BDI was down 17 point from 1,689…
The Volatility of the Capes is monumental; the daily loss today was a triple-digit point, 106 points lost grounding the BCI down to 3,197 points. On a weekly basis the BCI was down eight points – from 3,205… Caution…
The Panamaxes BPI stood at 1,588; good to see our most favourite size, up five points; on a weekly basis 31 points plus is a very welcome development – from 1,557!
The Supras BSI was up just a point to 1,035, but on a weekly basis same was up 12 points; not bad!
A bit of a drama with the Handies’ BHSI losing on daily basis one point – now at 553 and on a weekly seven – from 560 points…
The Wets, in general, on an upwards mode. The last published BDTI (Dirties) and BCTI (Cleans) stood at 755 – plus two and 508 – minus four respectively. On a weekly basis though the Dirties were up 42 points (from 713 and the Cleans ten from 498 respectively.
The WTI as these lines are being written stands at US$69.40 – last week same was one dollar more. Let’s hope it will remain low and fall further!! It will be for the benefit of all!
Geopolitics remain very bad; more bad news are yet to come! Lets see who can navigate in turbulent waters given the sanctiions, Tariffs and all that jazz… We are living in interesting times and we reiterate the view that the Thrid World War is on! A commerical so to speak War is the beginning!

The newly weds, Lilian Evgenidis and Lee Polydor
We were referring above to a wedding; what a wedding that was! The Wedding of Lilian Evgenidis to Lysimachos (Lee) Polydor at the Saint Demetrios Church at the Grand Resort in Lagonissi. We are more than pleased to be in Greece and witness this great moment of Lilian who has been a staunch supporter of the site and has contributed many articles!
Our young sea-maiden who is with Teekay – one of the world’s largest marine energy transportation, storage & production companies. was as always a shining star with a classic wedding dress, an absolute showstopper, attracting the admiration of all guests there. And what the reception that was held in a tranquil atmosphere by the sea, under the blood-y moon – what an eclipse that was, a sign of longevity and happiness for those who get married, as well as for those who witness and participate in watching same!
A very unique wedding given also that the groom comes from the USA, a Greek of Diaspora with great traditions which enfolded before, during and after the ceremony! Very very touching!!! Lilian and Lee: many Congratulations and Best Wishes on this wonderful journey, as you build your new lives together.
