“Boosted” by St. Valentine’s the BDI now stands at 628!
The BDI (Baltic Dry Index) clinched 20 points earlier on today and many can take a deep breath yet again after a considerable time in wilderness. Geopolitics crates havoc all over Planet Ocean. John Faraclas’ brief daily recap:
The BCI was up for the first time after a long time following the loss of nearly 550 points only in 2019! At 729 today the Capes are back again “in action”. We will be closely monitoring them!
The Panamaxes slow down with the BPI up only eight points – questionable rise and now stand at 619 points.
Good returns for the Supras’ BSI now at 526 – crossed over the 500 point threshold!
The Handies’ BHSI was up nine points and now stand at 311!
The Wets once again with mixed upside-down figures; the last published BDTI (Dirties) and BCTI (Cleans) stood at 798 – plus eight and 618 – minus six points respectively…
The WTI stood up at US$ 54.41 (23:00 GMT) – that is 51 cents higher since yesterday… That’s bad news for the 7.5 billion poor masses on Planet Ocean. CAUTION!
Geopolitics as said in the preamble are turning sour; it seems humans don’t love thy neighbour!
It is despicable how much the politicians we elect costs us all as well as the unable diplomats who of course are being stopped by their superiors and “other” invisible hands…
The MIGRANTS issue, who are causing a mess at the other side of the Atlantic prompting president Trump to erect a wall despite the controversy and opposition, but this is inevitable, continues. Now he threatens to declare a national emergency to fund his planned border wall with Mexico and rightly so! It is the same things when this column has asked many times the “powerful” NATO and EU duo to impose a Naval Blockade so as to avoid MIGRANTS come over to Europe. Wonder how many times have to scream and shout as they (politicians) are on purpose deaf – but one day they will regret this pathetic and inhumane behaviour when the shit hits the fan! The social cohesion is breaking down all over Europe; end of the story. This is a warning… In Australia too PM Scott Morrison is faced with MIGRANTS coming / via smugglers-traffickers from Indonesia…
In Syria the last “bastions” of ISIS are about to fall and the culprits mix with the innocent public trying to flee together… What a shame; pin them down and arrest them… some are trying to return to the European nations they come from. They will be more than dangerous! Iraq continuous to be also in a mess.
All the faulty line contained from Gib to Afghanistan and from the Caucuses to the Horn of Africa is in mess; the epicentres remain the same: the Balkans and the Middle East / East Med… Caution!
Greece, Turkey, Cyprus and all adjacent countries might find themselves in a multiple mess…
Europe is in a total mess; it’s not just the curse from BREXIT… The EU is bankrupt in its entirety… Italy might see exceptional wild days ahead; it’s not just a possible ITALEXIT, it’s beyond that. Next door in France Macron’s days are becoming a nightmare with incalculable repercussions not just from the gilets jaunes but from other issues… CAUTION…
The United Kingdom has already lost just over US$ 102 billion from the BREXIT saga…
Mrs. May does her best but whose betraying her at the end of the day? This is the harsh reality! Fairs fair! Let’s see how she counters back… As for the EU and its patrons, there is a big blame there – you dead well know what I mean… You all know that I don’t back off from a live interview and I wish I had the chance to have them live on TV and then you will understand what’s going on… They all call a fast one on the public (all of us) in both sides of the British Channel!
Too many issues in Africa; some derive from elections, others stem from poverty and bad politics… CAUTION.
CAUTION for South America with Venezuela being about to experience total mess… Watch this space as people flee to survive and sell everything they can… Brazil also a county to watch…
The Trade War between the USA and China continues despite as otherwise we read in the media about a truce – even a temporarily one… The Taiwan saga as well as the disputed region of South China Sea might give tsunamis… still awaiting to see the end of the North Korean nuclear threat… Japan closely monitors the entire situation…
What a mess that was in Kashmir; 40 plus dead in the Srinagar – Jammu Road… Let’s hope the issue is contained…
AND, lastly, Putin’s Russia continues to work on its agenda…
CAUTION should be observed not only to maintain free and secure sea-lanes but to ensure Planet Ocean’s Dire Straits are safe for navigation… As I have numerous times stressed herein (in articles) as well as in Conferences: what will be the effect in Shipping if the Suez Canal closes down yet again…? You never ever know and I consider this as a possibility… Hormuz too… Imagine China being cut-off from the East Med and Piraeus how its logistics will operate having to make the round of Africa…
Anyway enough said… and written; let Love take the main place in our hearts and mind tonight and tomorrow and the day after tomorrow as what we all need is Love to short out our differences and make it another world. I am optimistic but we need to get rid of all those politicians and their cronies spoiling the lives of billions of people on Planet Ocean.
Hope St. Valentine’s was a good one and next year will be even a better one. Thinking all those who miss the effects of true love and I am sending them my thoughts for a better tomorrow. Love is in the air and try with openness and cautiousness though to find your matching love one! Never give up but be cautious; I have to stress this! I had dozens of discussions today with many people and exchanged respective messages and I do sympathise all of them and their position… pessimisms, traumas, the lot… Again to all of you think life’s bright side… as we are a Shipping medium my mind goes to all those thousands of Seafarers away from their loved ones… Add all those Marine Surveyors and other office personnel travelling for business… Happy Valentine’s Day to all all over the Planet Ocean’s Seven Seas!

On another tone and note today we had one of our supporting friends win an Award which they really deserved in the Golden Hall of the Nobel “compound” – as I call it, in Stockholm!
