Marine Money Week: Peter G. Livanos & Michael D. Tusiani

Now in its 32nd year, Marine Money Week is permanently on the calendar of the world’s most active ship financiers and ship owners. In addition to the pleasure of being in New York City in June, the largest ship finance event in the world features three days of best-in-class ship finance conference sessions, countless dynamic networking events and a one-of-a-kind deal room that is constantly buzzing with activity. As an attendee said last year, “I do a year’s worth of business and client visits during the three days of Marine Money Week.” 

One of the most popular sessions during Marine Money Week is called “Captains of Industry” and features Michael D. Tusiani, Chairman Emeritus of Poten & Partners, having a “fireside chat” with one of his long time clients – offering a rare opportunity to see from the perspective of shipping’s most successful owners. The first interview took place in 2016 when Michael had a fascinating and candid conversation with John Angelicoussis, one of the world’s largest private shipowners.

This year, we are very excited that Michael will be joined by Mr. Peter G. Livanos. Mr. Livanos, whose father George P. Livanos was one of the first commodores at our annual CMA conference in 1992, is an incredibly thoughtful and important member of the ship financing community with experience that is invaluable to everyone in the industry.

Mr. Livanos is a shareholder of international shipping group Ceres Hellenic Shipping Enterprises Ltd and has been actively involved with a variety of bulk shipping sectors since joining the family business 1972, including the founding and 2014 IPO of GasLog LNG where he is Chairman and Ceres Hellenic remains the largest shareholder, the merger of chemical tanker fleet, Seachem, with Odfjell and serving as chairman of Euronav after merging the TankLog fleet with Euronav. Mr. Livanos is also an active advocate for the industry through a variety of roles, including the American Bureau of Shipping where he is a member and on the Council.
