Global Markets
Market sentiment towards risk assets turned negative on the back of the latest coronavirus-related developments suggesting that the number of infections surpassed the 30,000 level and the death toll in mainland China has more than doubled in less than a week. The EUR/USD extended recent losses hitting fresh year-to-date lows ahead of today’s US non-farm payrolls report for January at 13:30GMT.
Greece
According to ELSTAT, in Nov-19 the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate reached 16.5% compared to 18.6% in Nov-18 and 16.6% in Oct-19.
Speaking at the European Parliament’s Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee, ECB President Christine Lagarde appeared confident that if the Greek economy continues to improve and based on the criteria applied to such purchases, Greek bonds will likely become eligible as well.
